Smartlink Portal – Atlas Copco

The Atlas Copco Group is a world-leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions. The Group serves customers in more than 180 countries with products and services focused on productivity, energy efficiency, safety and ergonomics. Their business area includes, for example, air compressors, vacuum pumps, generators and drills.

Customers, distributors and the service centers uses a portal called Smartlink, in which they can monitor their compressed air installations and have insight in where the problem lies from the enormous amount of data being measured. As a result, you can discover or prevent an upcoming problem, improve the efficiency of the machinery or adjust it properly to be able to save energy.

Atlas Copco approached Acato with the wish of having a new Smartlink: responsive and to be used more often and by more customers. Our challenge was to give meaning to the huge amount of data and to provide great insight into it. Smartlink has 8 different groups of users, which made it an even bigger challenge.

To help us, we have collected the knowledge, experiences and needs of the user groups through interviews, while my UI experts colleagues made a customer journey session with customer service managers and stakeholders, to get a picture of the current situation regarding the way in which the various tools are used to meet the information needs.

To create a good concept, we worked with those UX principles:

Provide insights not data
Excellence in exceptions
We work in a mobile context
We are at the forefront
Pleasurable human touch
