In the Netherlands, PostNL points in stores have taken over the country following the disappearance of traditional post offices. How do you ensure that all these retail employees provide optimal service on behalf of PostNL? From large chains to small independents, from employees aged 16 to 65…

The employees need to stay up to date with PostNL services to ensure happy customers. What better way to learn and stay up to date than through fun? This is where gamification can come in handy.

I had the great chance to work on this project during my time at Acato. I worked hand in hand with PostNL stakeholders and designers to ensure the correct use of their style guide, and of course, my amazing UX colleagues at the agency.

The mechanics behind:

Keep people motivated to absorb knowledge through challenges. Every week, you can test your knowledge by doing short quizzes, answering questions about PostNL products and services. The faster you answer most questions correctly in one go, the higher your score! Your team wins points and power-ups, giving you an advantage in the final race.

Focus on group dynamics by letting the different retail teams compete against each other to get the highest score on the leaderboard and win gifts and surprises from PostNL.
PostNL Academy
An e-portal for learning everything you need to know about PostNL services. Each challenge begins with a learning part and ends with a testing part featuring short quizzes. You can unlock the next challenge by completing the previous one. You get direct feedback on your answers to know where you stand. You unlock your certification by completing every challenge.
